CPAP, APAP and Bi-Level Devices
Positive airway pressure therapy is the "Gold Standard" for treatment of sleep apnea. Commonly referred to as PAP therapy, there are several different modalities of treatment. For most patients diagnosed with sleep apnea, treatment usually requires a CPAP, auto-CPAP (APAP) or Bi-Level device to be worn while sleeping. The CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure) device delivers air at a single pressure prescribed by your sleep specialist. A Bi-Level device provides two levels of pressure, one for inhalation and a lower pressure during exhalation. Auto-CPAP automatically adjusts the flow of air on a breath by breath basis to maintain optimal therapy and comfort throughout the night. All devices are fitted individually to each patient for optimal comfort.
Rapid Improvement
Studies show treatment of sleep apnea with PAP devices to be highly effective. You may even notice improvement after a single night's use. With continued use, you will experience more restful, uninterrupted sleep and an enhanced quality of life. Additionally, PAP devices reduce or eliminate snoring. Because maximum benefit is dependent on proper and regular use of your device, Martin Clinic Sleep Center provides an extensive follow-up to ensure that you get the most from your treatment.
